Sinatra_Z - Something to ponder upon

Of course,
there's the Drama, arguments, laughs, tears, fights, confrontation and all that Jazz that happened through out the year.

Typical no?

But before you start complaining,
Just try to look at it this way...

A Nasi Lemak without the cili,
is a Nasi Lemak not worth eating.

Shouldn't life be like that as well?

Just think about it.

Good Night Folks.

Sinatra_Z - Siapa Yang Hati Busuk Sebenarnya Zaid Ibrahim

Penulisan Terbaru di The Malaysian Insider

Sinatra_Z - Sunset

It's now 12.41 am,
a new day has arrived, to be exact it's 9th of December 2009.

I realised that the year is about to end, 2009 is nearing it's destination.
One could say if this was a day, we are near the sunset.

Perhaps it's too early to write a review for the year.
After all there's still 22 days to go and many things can happen in these 22 days.

But as a preview of the review (forgive the pun)

Let's just say I started the year off by going into a business
and failed,
and got into a debt.
Yet,
still things turn out all right.

So here's to a lousy head start.
Doesn't mean if you start off badly, you have to end it the same way as well.
Often, I realised that things work out rather differently in the end.

How things and feelings change.

So if someone ask me now how was 2009 to you,
I'd have to say I'm not sure yet, because there's still 22 days to go.

Sorry for being a little self centered in my writing tonight,
can't help it. I usually am a bit melancholic when I'm tired.

So come on,
let's get up, go out and watch the sun sets,
usually the sun would release brilliant colours of lights during this time.

So what are you waiting for, you got 22 days left.... Go get those colours.

Sinatra_Z - Ta.. wow..

So apparently there's a gym at the hotel and I decided to pay it a visit.
Located on the 5th floor beside this place called the Health Centre.

Health Centre a gym and a shower/locker room. Pretty standard.

After the gym I decided to drop by this health centre after the receptionist said that it was actually a Spa.

Entering the SPA or Health Centre I was greeted by this 40-50 something year old lady.

"Hallo boss, apa you mau?"

"Sini ada apa ah?"

"Massage la."

"Oooh ok, kira macamana?"

"Kira? Kira apa?" she asked again

"Harga? Massage."

"Oooh ahh sini Massage kira 60 ringgit la biasa punya, tapi kalau you mau satu set."

"Satu set?"

"Ahh ya satu set?"

"Apa la satu set?"

"Hah?"

She looked at me for a short moment and then calmly answered

"Satu set itu kira massage sikit-sikit lepas tu main la."

"Huh main? uhhh.... OOooohh Main!! errrr berapa la itu?"

"Itu kita charge dua latuih."

"Ahh ok, nanti lah."

I was probably the first person to walk in there and asked that what's a 1 set question.
Apalah Zaidel, buat malu orang kampung je.

Since I'm a cheapskate,
sadly for you this is as far as it gets.
RM 200 is way to cheap for my body.

Which reminds me,
we wanted to eat steak the other day so we dropped by this place called Cybill Stake House. When we went there apparently the place is actually called Cybill Karaoke and Lounge Steak House.

And they don't sell steak,
But they do sell oysters though.

Note to self : Don't ask stupid questions at dodgy looking Spas.

Sinatra_Z - Update

Supposed to write a story tonight but I'm drop dead tired, just finished work you see. Anyway will be in Tawau till 18th of December, extended as something came up.

Thankfully I moved into a better hotel thus having access to good internet so I will have some form of a social life now ( as half of my social life is from the internet).

Anyway will be posting more pictures in Facebook,
Till then....

If you were to drop by to Tawau anytime soon, there's an empty seat waiting for you. Nice view.

Sinatra_Z - Kasih NurTawau

Ubah macamana?

Dekat Tawau aku tengok NurKasih.
Drama pukul 7.30pm tv 3.

Jangan tanya kenapa aku tengok, mungkin aku gersang, masuk air ataupun hampagas.

Adam hantar Nur balik rumah kawan dia. Adam kata kat Nur dia nak bagitau semorang yang Nur isteri dia, Nur tak bersedia. Adik Nur lepas tu nak perangkap Abang Adam dengan panggil dia datang rumah lepas tu telefon JAIS tapi JAIS slh rumah dan gagal.

Lepas tu Adik Nur bagitau kat Adam yang abang adam dulu suka dekat kakak dia dan pernah suruh diorang cerai. Adam emo dan marah-marah dekat abang dia, abang dia tak sempat beri penjelasan adam lari. Adam datang balik rupanya salah faham dan abang dia mengaku yang dia dulu suka kat bini adam tapi tu dulu bukan sekarang dan diorang baik balik.

Aku pun terfikir,

Adam Kecewa...

Adam kata dia nak Nur Balik kat dia, dia tunggu sampai bila-bila. Nur serba salah.

bersambung......

4) beberapa hari dekat sini aku tengok TV lagi banyak aku tengok TV dekat KL selama 2 bulan.

5) Kalau ko eja Tawau dengan guna hurup jawi ko hanya perlu pakai 2 huruf je, ta dengan wau.

Selamat Malam

P/S - Adik Nur Hot sial

Sinatra_Z - Ughhh

Always beware of what you wrote at 3.30 am in the morning.

Jeez get me a tampon.

Feelings are for fags.

Sinatra - A thought

If things were supposed to be easy,
then I guess it's not that worthy.

Good things are hard to get,
that's how they're supposed to be.

Something I keep reminding myself repeatedly,

but damn,
sometimes I just wish it would be easier.

Oh well life is like that,
you can either complain about it or just swallow, get up and take it head on.

"Never go back on your word ... and never give up, no matter how bad it gets. That's your ninja way ... and I'm supposed to be your teacher ... I can't go out like this! Because I ... the student's ninja way should be the master's too! Right, Naruto?!"

Jiraiya The Toad Sage, Legendary Sannin, Legendary Pervert, one hell of a character, one hell of a character.

Sinatra_Z - Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha

I use the standard Malay spelling rather than Eid,
I'm somewhat of a traditionalist I guess. Typical me.

Aidiladha is remembered for the sacrifices made by the Prophet Ibrahim, in which he was ordered by god to sacrifice his son Ismail. Though hard and bitter it may be, he nonetheless went through it, but Allah the merciful merely wanted to test Ibrahim's will and replace his son with a sacrificial animal instead.

Made me think,
The sacrifices made by Ibrahim and his son Ismail and other prophets before and after them.
They held onto their faith, their principle even when it is hard and tough. At the most crucial moments they never let go of it.

Principles,
can be defined as
a set of fundamentals that a person uses to chart their lives with. It can act as a guide when it comes to making a decision or determining which path to be taken. A principle is like a red X on a map, when one is lost or stumble upon a junction, one can always refer to the map to determine which direction to go in order to reach the final destination.

But the thing about principles is,
it would only be worth something if the person holds on to it.
A principle would be worthless if the person changes them easily.

Personally I prefer someone who holds onto a set of principles.
Even if I disagree with it, at least I know what that person stands for or where is he/she heading for. It means that person knows where he/she want's to go and I respect that. Very much.

But the problems with principles is,
when you decide to have them, you must uphold it at all times.

Principles are not tools to be used and talked about at our convenience.
We cant merely prescribe to it only when it is beneficial to us and decide to scrap it when situation doesn't give us the advantage.

If that is the case then there's no point in having any.

Even when it's hard, tough, unpopular and does not benefit you at the time being,
if you believe in your principles with sound reasoning then by all means god will not take the excuse of you ditching them because it is simply inconvenient.

Then again,
this is easier said than done.

But like Ibrahim and Ismail,
Because they managed to hold onto their faith, they did not go astray.

As years go by,
our surroundings, situation and people will have an influence on us. Amongst these many variables that affects our lives, it's hard to keep our principles constant.

So at least once a year,
let us remember what it really means to hold onto something. Let us remember, like Ibrahim and Ismail, as to what we stand for, why we stood for it and where should we be heading.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha.

Maaf Zahir Batin.

Sinatra_Z - Because I like doing it.

So Art Harun was somewhat unhappy with some of the comments at Rocky, so he decided to write another one.

And me being me decided to answer him once again. So here is the answer.

I disagree, I don't think, freedom brought us up where we belong, or at least to me freedom is not the main contributor that brought us up where we belong. It helps but it's not the major factor. I think economic prosperity is what brought us up where we belong. We enjoy good economic growth and improvement in education ever since Merdeka. It has elevated our quality of living. Since we have more income and expertise we improve our education system in which then makes our people are more knowledgeable, able to think critically and they have time and energy to pursue a higher goal. From these we create professionals, thinkers and intellectuals, and these professionals due to their education and exposure are more critical in their thinking. Like the Maslow's theory, if we do not have these necessity first there's probably we don't really care much about democracy.

60% Indian work force comes from farming, this is not an assumption it's a fact -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agriculture_in_India

The farmers remark came from the Indian election result in 2004 where the communist party and the Congress had big wins. The communist party had the biggest winning margin in history now what does that tells you? In case one may fear I make an assumption again here's the reference

http://fpc.state.gov/documents/organization/34484.pdf

So the logic trait goes something like this - Farmers were hit hard, farmers go to election, farmers vote for communist party, communist party hates democracy, meaning farmers don't really give a flying about it. They are more concerned about their livelihood, like the maslow thing.

And regarding this quote :

"In fact history would show that Malaysia imposed more limits to democracy than Singapore did in the 22 years of Dr M’s rule." I'm pretty sure J.B. Jeyaretnam would disagree to that, then again maybe I am making an assumption here and we may never know because he is dead.

If we were to contribute freedom "as the main factor" to where we are today i.e citizens with critical thinking yet at the same time say for 22 years plus (apparently Badawi is a dictator too to some) we have no freedom at all, isn't it contradictory? If we had freedom for 22 years and got to where we are today then yeah that sounds right, but according to you we were oppressed. So I think there's probably something else that contributed to this. If I'm not too lazy, I'll probably write an article on this. If not then too bad, life goes on.....

I know there are more things I could write about.
But it's late and I'm woozy over the medicine I took just now.

Good Night folks.

Sinatra_Z - Angin Selatan

Kira dua orang ni masa tu macam pelajar terlajak laaa, tapi memang Gerek Seh bak kata orang Johor.

Setiap malam lepas pukul sembilan, Best 104 akan memainkan tanpa henti lagu-lagu keroncong jadi selalulah saya datang singgah duduk mendengar sama lagu keroncong.

"Eh tetamu dah datang ni, kenalah kita buat teh."

Walaupun Pantai Lido tu menyedihkan, tapi Johor Bahru tetap saya kenang.

Angin Selatan, Gerek Seh. Rindu gua dekat lu punya keroncong, lu punya angin dengan kawan-kawan gua.

Selamat Malam.....

Sinatra_Z - Buat Musim Hujan

Bersempena dengan musim hujan ni,
hendak pulak tengah hujan malam-malam ni. Nah buat layan di kala hujan waktu malam-malam.

Sinatra_Z - Sauna and Manliness

There's something really manly about Saunas..

Imagine,
a bunch of 3 quarter sweaty naked men, with nothing but towel sitting inside a steamy hot room yet not a word can be spoken.

You come in, you sit, you do nothing, you say nothing and when you're done you leave and no one says anything about it.

No talking, no touching, feeling and what not.

Let me define sauna -
A place where half naked sweaty men sit together in a totally heterosexual manner.
In fact even a gay dude would automatically turn straight once he enters a sauna.

It's like a gentlemen code and Sauna is a sacred place where you just sit and sweat.

It's a guy thing.

Sauna = Serious Business

Sinatra_Z - An Answer

Art Harun wrote this in TMI
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/index.php/opinion/art-harun/43907-enemies-of-the-state

And I answered -

I'm pretty sure,
those starving hard working farmers in India who has to fight drought and fertilizer prices don't give a damn about freedom of speech or expression. It is those comfortably well paid lawyers with some extra time on their hands who are more concerned about these things and write about it.

Meaning,
Before you talk about democracy perhaps it is wise to first elevate the people's (rakyat) quality of living, because like the maslow's hierarchy of needs there are more important things to fulfill before they get to the self actualization level.

India has one of the most open democracy in the world yet the people are still racists. Now what does that tell you, democracy does not make you less racist, education is. In fact during the times of Soviet Union Russians aren't racists at all because communism knows no colour, yet now in a democracy they have the biggest population of skinheads and nazi groups because of economic factor.

If given the chance to an Indian labourer on whether he would prefer to go to Shanghai and lose his democratic rights yet get a good job and stay in Bangalore and be paid peanuts yet he can vote, I think we can pretty much guess the outcome.

And yes Dr M says China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan will lead the charge.
Japan has been ruled by the same party for over 50 years before, South Korea and Taiwan was once ruled by dictators who are horrible in human rights but spur fast economic growth and efficiency during their time.

There is such a thing as too much democracy, look at Pakistan, apart from cricket the national's favourite past time is politics and it is dominated by lawyers, look how screwed up it gets.

On the other hand, China is being ruled by a group of Engineers and they are flying high.

Dr M is a lousy philosopher yes I agree, and that's why people like him because Philosophers will only talk and do very little while technocrats (like Doctors) do more and talk less. Philosopher ini macam Anwar Ibrahim.

Sinatra_Z - PAS dan Negara Islam

Penulisan terbaru di The Malaysian Insider

Sinatra_Z - Thoughts

I'm trying to finish up my TMI article so no stories for your monday blues.

But nonetheless here is some random thoughts I had during the weekends.

On Writing -
When I write I would sleep late = less sleep.
In a way writing is detrimental to my health.
But hey, I like writing and I consider it as an indulgence, like chocolates or cigars to some. Thus indulgence is always bad for health no?

On Son In Laws
Once there was a blogger who declared war on UMNO because of Pak Lah and his Son in Law thus using the nickname kickdefella. He then joined PAS and became a huge fan of Nik Aziz. Now kickdefella got kicked by the fella he least expected, Nik Aziz, because of his confrontation with Nik Aziz's Son In Law. Life is ironic isnt' it.

On Singing
I'm not a singer, I'm a crooner. Go google crooner.

On Prime Minister.
Zaid Ibrahim proposes Nik Aziz to head Pakatan Rakyat. Does this mean Anwar Ibrahim is not going to be PM if PR wins? Hurricane Hattie of PR strikes again.

On Subtitle
Saw Mahathir's documentary on History Channel, they interviewed a bunch of people including Lim Kit Siang. Apparently they only subtitled Lim Kit Siang. Kesian. I mean his english is not that bad what, maybe got slang a bit lah.

On being an 'artis'
Saturday went crooning at Superstar karaoke and sunday went to Celebrity Fitness. Ahh so Glamour likat that. Macam artis. hahahaha.

On Selangor
Anwar declared war in Selangor to combat UMNO's plan to retake the state. You know instead of declaring war in Selangor how about PKR proves it's worthiness by governing Selangor which it has yet to do.

On matters of the heart.
Someone said that we should be honest to our heart. I say, people are always honest to their heart it's just that people usually are not honest to the person who they have heart for.

On Pall Mall
Pall Mall Cigarettes apparently means Peluk Abang Lama Lama Membutakan Abang Lemah Lesu.
Damn!

That's all folks.

Sinatra_Z - Living Life To The Foollest

It's interesting on how you find things at the most unexpected places.

I was reading some of the comments they posted on Low Yat (which is an online forum) and this guy with the nickname "Ah Wang" wrote "Live Life to the Foolest"

I can't remember why he wrote it but I remembered that line. Although he wrote it as a jest but it got me thinking, perhaps it can serve as a pretty good life motto.

Think about it,
"Live life to the foollest"

Because many times in our lives we avoid on doing something because of the fear that we might be seen as someone foolish, a fool. Be it dancing on the stage, public speaking, asking for directions, pretending to understand a certain conversation, learning how to ski and many-many more.

But think about it.

When one falls in love he or she tends to do foolish things right? And I am pretty sure we have fallen in love least once in our lives. Though you might not notice it but if you have fallen in love, had a crush or like someone chances are you already have been a fool once.

When arriving or visiting a foreign country or even a new place like a new town you must have looked like a fool when you got lost not knowing which road to take and keep going in circles. That seemed quite foolish no?

The first time you tried to make a new dish and the curry tasted more like burned charcoal, how about the time when you first learn how to drive, the first date you had or the time when you asked the shopkeeper which one of these leaves is a spinach.

Without realising it, You have been a fool many times before and guess what you came out fine and no one seems to remember it. Well at least most of it.

Many of us have dreams,
dreams on achieving something, dreams of doing something and dreams of changing something.

I have a dream,
and I too have been ridiculed for it, called names because of it and even doubts from many people. Some say it's too much, some say I have false hopes and that I am a fool for even thinking on taking that path.

Yes,
it seems tough, but that's what dreams are all about. They're supposed to be hard, only then it is worth dreaming about.

I don't mind if I seem to look like a fool for believing in it,
I don't mind if I fail in trying to get it,
I don't mind doing things that might seem foolish for it.

Because,
I have made myself look like a fool many times before,
but every time I did that I would always discover something new, be it good or bad.

Because in the end, I'd rather try achieving something and look foolish doing it then just sit by the road, complaining all my life and pretending to be cool.

So I look like a fool sometimes, but I don't mind it, and you shouldn't too.

You are not a cat, you only got one life, so why worry so much on what others might think of you, it's not going to affect your savings account or anything.

I mean, what's a little dent on the ego and a slight scar on the reputation.

Life is like that.

Try to be a fool sometimes ok, you might discover something new.

So here's to living life to the foollest.

Sinatra_Z - Cerita-Cerita Rakyat

Jadi,
para pembaca sekelian untuk meningkatkan semangat anda di pagi hari rabu (ye saya tahu anda banyak membaca karangan di waktu pejabat) maka terimalah kisah-kisah pendek cerita rakyat yang saya kumpul di sepanjang minggu lepas.

Kisah I

Sedang kami duduk minum-minum di kopitiam mak saya pun teringat kisah lama lalu diceritakan mengenai "Honey Moon" masa baru kahwin dulu.

Sekali keluar bapa saya bawa dia pergi padang golf, rupanya jalan-jalan tu bermaksud jalan-jalan teman dia main golf. Dia pinjam Golf Set dari Kelab.

"Haa tengok tu pokok bunga cantik."
Katanya sebelum dia memukul bola golf dengan batang Iron nombor 5.

Kisah II

Kawan yang tengah baca Suratkhabar...

"Peh Khalid Samad kata kalau nak masuk bertanding untuk PAS kena buat Baiah, kalau buat hal kena cerai isteri."

"Mak aih, apahal?"

"Diorang tak nak wakil PAS lompat masuk UMNO."

"Ooh itu macam ka, kalau lompat masuk UMNO kena cerai isteri, habis kalau UMNO lompat masuk PAS macamana pulak?"

"ahh itu dia kena Kahwin lagi satu."

Kisah III

"Peh MU kalah siot."

"Hahahah MU Kalah macam Kelantan."

"Ko tau tak orang paling sedih pagi ni orang apa?" tanya Zaki

"Apa?"

"Penyokong MU dari Kelantan."

Kisah IV

"Peh ko takkan takde gadis yang ko suka?"

"Ada"

"Habis tu apa tunggu lagi ko ni pun"

"masaalah lah, leceh sikit"

"masaalah apa, kalau ko dah suka tu apa lagi masaalahnya?"

"Masaalahnya dia tak suka kat aku. Itu je, kalau masaalah tu aku berjaya selesaikan dah lama dah aku masuk."

Kisah V

"Eh apasal orang Melayu, isteri dia panggil suami dia Abang ah?"

"Perempuan Melayu mana panggil suami dia abang lah."

"Eh ye lah, kan diorang panggil suami diorang abang."

"diorang tak panggil suami diorang abang la."

"Habis tu diorang panggil suami apa?"

"Dia panggil Abaaang.."

"ohooo, abaaang, ok kenapalah dia panggil tu?"

"because it rhymes with the word that is used for numerical coefficient of cylindrical objects, stiff and long. Probably that's why."

Sinatra_Z - The Look Of Love

Being a writer,
or at least someone who like to write (Since I consider myself as an Engineer) you will have this habit of seeing things in a third perspective.

It's like being a spectator in a chess competition and noticing the flaws that the players make, yet you will not see them if you're in the game itself.

This habit of mine,
I tend to jot it down, usually it's just your usual mundane daily things, but like what is written on the right side of this blog that in between these mundane random things that you encounter in life, sometimes you find something meaningful, a treasure of sorts.

Last Saturday I was invited to lunch at a friends house, his wife had just gone through a surgery safely and he just found out that he is about to be a dad. So he invited a bunch of friends over for some "makan-makan" at his home, pretty low key but cozy nonetheless.

So I went there with a friend and there we met some of his friends from work, all Engineers, age around 24 to 27 and recently married, the stable sort of people unlike his friends from hometown who are the "bujang trang tang tang" funfair folks. They talked about work, football, being married but mostly about work, pretty mundane to me. Didn't join in the "married" conversation instead I joined in the "bujang senang" folks and started talking cock on one side.

Then this newlywed couple came, one of their friends from workplace and he was bringing his wife for the first time to meet his friends here. They got married in less than a month and it seems that they have not met him for quite sometime. The usual "selamat pengantin baru" greetings.

So the husband was surrounded by his "guy" friends while his wife was sitting on the opposite side of the living room looking at their lively conversation. The husband was explaining to his friends on his life, about his new job, his new home and what happened after they left the company and etc.. It seems that he has been doing quite okay, he got a better offer and he tell them stories of his new career path. He didn't brag about it but you can see his enthusiasm when he talks about his new work.

What grabbed my attention in that scene was the wife who was sitting on the opposite side. From the start of the conversation where her husband is being probed by friends to the end she just kept looking at him and mind you this is not just looking at the whole conversation but more like focusing on her husband.

From her eyes and her slight smile in her lips you can tell that there was a mixture of happiness, admiration, pride and a bunch of other feelings. With her palm on her cheek it seems that she really enjoyed looking at her husband in a new light, her husband with his friends. Probably the first time she saw him in this manner. That look that she had on her face, no one saw it but I did and I think it is best described as the look of love.

It was quite something,
that gaze of her's. It's not like the loving gaze that one have over looking at his/her crush/love from afar. It's more like the gaze of someone who knows that this is the person whom she loves, and that he is her's and that she can't help but feel happy and grateful that they are together here right now at this place doing this utterly normal, usually mundane thing. The gaze of someone whose love has been answered.

I don't think the husband realised it thought, takes someone from outside to notice it. But it was there all right, in the middle of it all, quite secluded, partly hidden in a way and I saw it. Like a sight of a really rare bird in between the trees.

Do I feel envious about it?
Not really, but I sure do feel grateful that I managed to see that.
I think that it's a very rare sight,
wanted to snap a picture of it but I decided not to, didn't want to ruin the magic.

Frank Sinatra once sang...

I've seen the look of a jockey on a winner
I've seen the look of a fat man havin' dinner
I've seen the look of those spacemen up above
But the look that closes the book is the look of love....

It's thunder, it's lightning, the gentlest breeze
It's friendly, it's frightening
And more surprising than an elephant's sneeze

He was right all right, man he was right.

Sure did found something valuable on that Saturday afternoon.

The Tree of Democracy, Cendol and Rojak

NOV 4 — As many of you should know, I am rather biased when it comes to writing about Malaysian politics.

Which side you may ask? Well my previous article should give you some clues so let’s just say you won’t see the word “rakyat” being mentioned much in my articles. But hey, at least I don’t go pretending on being all neutral or non-partisan like many of you out there, right here and right now.

My fellow readers please be aware that Zaidel Baharuddin can be somewhat biased, at least he dares to admit it and that probably makes him the only columnist here who has balls. Although, I have to give credit to Dina Zaman for she has balls too, and no I am not saying that she is actually a man; I mean she breaks fasts with some gangsters for the sake of orphans and that shows that she has more balls than many of us here who just sit behind the computer ranting and weeping about our woes and blame everything on Barisan Nasional. (Note from DZ: Okaylah Zaidel, I’ll be your cougar!)

Sinatra_Z - Feelings eh?

I don't mind putting my Ideas forward,
my thoughts or my views, I write them in the open.
I accept criticism, discourse and opinions.
One could say I am very forward when it comes to my thinking.
I share them and I try to explain them, proactively.

But the exact opposite when it comes to my feelings.
I don't share much of them in public,
be it in the form or writing or talking about it.
I try not to show them in the form of expression but occasionally it leaks.

Well I am human.

Which is why you don't see me write much about rants, complains or have random emotional outbursts towards friends, colleagues, family or acquaintance. I don't do that. To me the matter of the heart is something private, something that is best shared with someone you really trust or god. I'm not the type that have public emotional outbursts or the kind that would put emotions before logic when it comes to my writing.

But when I write, I do try my best to evoke the readers emotion, but it is mainly guided by logic.

Perhaps it's the male mechanism I have in my brain that says talking about your feelings makes you a wuss, pussy and other words one can refer in the thesaurus. In fact I really do have this thinking in my head.

So yeah,
a friend commented that

"I am extrovert when it comes to my thinking but very much introvert when it comes to feelings."

Maybe it's a guy thing,
Maybe I'm just a focused and objective person,
Maybe I am the type that like to avoid drama.

Or Maybe,

Because only those who dare to question himself may find the true answer...

Maybe I am just afraid.

One can argue with logic when it comes to an idea,
one can even conclude and have a pleasant discourse on it.

But when it comes to the matters of the heart,
it get's a bit tricky.

Pretty troublesome.

They say it takes a big man to cry,
Then they say it takes a bigger man to make him cry.

Oh well, it's just a random thought.

Good Night Folks.

Sinatra_Z - hmm....

Sinatra_Z - Awkward Moments

I'm not really shy or worry what others might perceive me when I am overseas or somewhere outside hometown.

There's a Japanese saying that goes "Fear not in embarrassing yourself while travelling, for no one knows you anyway."

Or at least I think it sounds like that,
Got it from Azumanga Daioh so can't really say my source is accurate.

Nonetheless the point that I am trying to make here is that I am not too worried in making mistakes or embarrass myself in front of strangers, after all they don't really know me nor would they remember soon after the incident.

Unless of course I do it in Youtube, but that's a whole other story.

Which is why I have little fear in public speaking,
I mean why worry that you make mistakes?
These are strangers after all and even if you do screw up people will eventually forget about it as life pass by. Trust me they have much more important things to remember. Chances are you might never see them again after this.

As in contrast to...

making mistakes amongst friends, it is much more painful with lasting effects.

Imagine you had a fight with a stranger, a big fight vocal fight with name calling, swearing and heated shouting. A few days later you might forget all about it, after all you don't have to face that "idiot" again after that.

You can always refer to the person as "that idiot" I bumped into on the road one lousy evening.

Now imagine if you had the exact same heated fight with a good friend, a bunch of good friends, family or someone who you personally know. You can't just brush it off that easily, eventually things would be okay with the apology and what not, but that awkward moment will still be there,l hanging in the air especially when the fight is still fresh in mind.

That weird handshake, fake smile and uncomfortable chair. Even the act of drinking or having a discussion in groups would seem very fake. There's that feeling of static air hanging around.

What more when you have to pretend, putting up a facade, that play you do which everything seems to be okay because you're too embarrass to admit that shit happens. Everything back to normal all smiley and giggly yet pissing off and swearing on the drive back home.

Isn't that worse?

Now being rejected by a girl you approached at a bar may hurt your ego a little.
But being rejected by the girl you spent much time together, the company that you enjoy very much over some mindless conversation with coffee is a whole different story.

When that confession didn't work out the way you hoped it would be.

You think that the next coffee conversation will be pleasant?
The thought of being at the same event together would seem weird after that.
Long gone are the things you cherish so much before this.

But hey then again,
To seek love one must be daring enough to take the risk. That's just the way it is.

Hence what is the fear of being rejected in an interview when you compare to the situation above.

So....
why worry so much about embarassing yourself in front of strangers?
People who you don't really care so much about nor do they care much about you.
Just get up on that stage, do your best and just be yourself.
Give it your best shot and might as well do what you feel like doing.
I mean, think....
What have you got to lose anyway?

For....
Life is simply to short to be worrying about what others might think.

Sinatra_Z - Monday poetry to cheer your day

Oh comes one night when the full moon glow,
two eyes shall vonder and hunger follow,
with vone(one) hand carry a candle glow,
with teeth and fangs sharper than arrow.

Ven time shall come for it to happen,
I vill eat your pesky children,
their tender meat make very good stew,
their soft bones ahh vonderful chew,
Vhen dark descends and full moon reborn,
for I shall lurk and children begone!
Beware-beware of the evil stare,
fear oh fear for the evil grinch is here.....
HAHAHAHAHAHA.....

Sinatra_Z - Of Analogies and Examples

Working in the technical side occasionally you have to explain things to people.
And technical people generally would agree when I say sometimes this is somewhat of a problem.

This is where Analogy comes in.

Analogy is when you give an example or another situation in which your listener can easily relate to.

Which is why they usually say smart students don't really make good teachers, dumb students make good teachers because they know what it's like to not understand.

A few years back in campus when I was in the computer club, a Business student, girl, asked me a question on the internet and her computer. She inquired that if she buys a good computer will it have an effect when she surf's the internet?

My answer was Yes and No,
if you work with Engineers you will find these answers abundantly. Engineers usually answer something like this

Yes but.... Well it depends..... That is somewhat correct..... Depending on.... You could say it that way
followed by a very long explanation. At at this time the boss would usually wish for a "Yes Man".

Back to the topic, knowing that she has absolutely no IT background whatsoever I used this analogy.

"Now Imagine that your computer is a Car and the Internet is a highway."

"Okay."

"Now would there be a difference between driving a Ferarri and a Kancil on a highway heading from JB to KL?"

"Yeah of course, Ferarri would be much quicker."

"Exactly, now would there be any difference between a Ferarri and a Kancil in Federal Highway heading for Shah Alam at 8.30 on a monday morning?"

"ahhh..."

"Of course there is a difference between a Kancil and a Ferrari but no point if the road you use sucks, the same with computers and the internet. Plus what's the point of buying a Ferrari if you're going to drive at the speed of 70 kmph most of the time. So buy a standard computer and pray that the Internet line do not screw you up."

However the best analogy or example that I have ever encountered did not come in the form of explaining technical situations, although it did came from an Engineer, it was about trying to explain about the birds and the bees.

"Alaa perempuan la best diorang rasa lagi seronok bila ko buat, kita yang kena kerja dia duduk je lepas tu rasa best."

"Eh bukan lelaki ke rasa lagi best, sebab kita confirm orgasm punya."

"Hak elah aku dah kahwin ko belum aku la lagi tahu."

" ye ke?"

"Ok aku bagi ko contoh lah kasi ko senang nampak."

"Teruskan."

"Bila ko korek telinga mana lagi best, jari ke telinga?"

Damn....

Malam ni malam Jumaat.

Selamat Malam...

Sinatra_Z - Fate

My siblings both are in the banking industry,
my dad was a pilot and my mother, a kindergarten teacher.

Now how in the world did I get here?

We're supposed to believe in fate, that some things has already been written, way beyond of our control. Like death or natural disaster.

Some say that everyone has a destination,
written long before they were born, in which they call fate. Like of princes rise up to become king, born into their destiny, written and ready. That we are all to a certain extent are like clouds, drifting at the mercy and direction of the wind. Thus rather than fight the wind we should make the best out of it.

The thing is,
some people tend to blame everything on fate, what's the point of doing anything if if is already written. Once can simply say that I am poor today because it is written that I shall and will be poor long before I was born.

I mean who want's to be born in Somalia no?

I don't really know to tell you the truth,
rather than giving you an answer id rather give you a perspective. I would like to think that in a way, like the clouds our path is determined by the flow of the wind. But unlike the clouds we do have somewhat control over which wind or direction which we are heading. I'd like to think that life is more like a sailing ship, though at the mercy of the wind the captain has the ability, power and choice to choose which way he/she want's to sail.

And like any sailor,
only those who are brave and daring enough venture deep into the ocean in search of a great adventures and bountiful land.

Yet many of those who are brave and daring did not come back.

For amongst the brave and daring,
only those who are wise, knowledgeable yet humble enough to respect and understand the nature of the sea (plus a little bit of luck) can arrive at their far away destiny and return to tell their story.

I think life is something like that.

So feel free to sail where ever you wish to go,
Be brave and daring, learn from other people's experience, seek knowledge, chart your map and always-always remember to be humble.

God Willing - Insyallah

I'll see you if you get there... You'll see me if I get there.

Sinatra_Z - Perempuan (Siri I)

If there is anything that I have not much credibility to talk about it's Women. Trust me, I don't really have much experience when it comes to them never really was or is a Ladies Man..

Most of the things that I learn from women comes from men, self proclaimed Casanova's or women behaviour experts who are usually older than me, guess what, their explanation makes much more sense as oppose to asking women themselves. That and their stories are very-very interesting. So here I share with some of the things I pick up in conversations. Check it out, might be something interesting.

First Chapter

Why Women fall for Married Man.

It all started when there are several cases known to public of women with money, beauty and career fall for unavailable men. Made me wonder as this breaks the stereotype of women going for unavailable men who is usually older because of money and I notice that Malay women have more tendency for this probably due to the polygamy factor. But still makes you wonder why this beautiful women with stable finance don't go find someone single when it's obvious they can.

The discussion started when a friend of mine started telling me stuff and showing me his messages.he commented that ever since he got married, he is more attractive to the ladies, much-much than before. Dude started showing me a bunch of sms's from women, tons of em, few even wanted to settle down/elope/get married or whatever.

After some discussion about it a friend concluded (he is married as well) that women tend to view married men as safe, so they feel comfortable to talk about their problems, feelings and whatever they feel the need to divulge. And as time goes by and more and more things are shared and talked about, things more from being acquaintances to a friend, from a friend to a best friend and from a best friend to a friend with benefits and finally to the love of my life.

The good thing about married men is that they are not as horny as their single counterparts. They are also much more patient, understanding and a much better listener. They already have someone warm in bed so this talk and sms are more like a sort of hobby one could say unlike their impatient single comrades who just don't have the time for foreplay (in terms or relationship) and more towards hunting.

Then another friend who is a self proclaimed expert in human behaviour came up with something else.

He said your usual goody two shoes Malay Male is something like this.
He studied hard in school and get good results. Then he goes into a good college/university and study even harder because it's a good degree. There he met a girl, his first girlfriend, the same Uni, acquaintance or whatever. They dated each other and he gets excited brings he home to see his mother. Mother likes her because she is a nice good girl (like him) said that she could be a good wife. Our friend than graduated starts his first job, gather enough funds, get married and have 2 kids before they are 30.

Typical.

Then after 30, our friend get's giddy and starts some messy affairs and your usual story.

So this friend said that our friend here before never really knew much about women, but once he is married and have extensive knowledge what what women want, how to treat them and know what they want to listen. These men know what women wants and he said that's the reason why they seem more attractive. Plus the fact that now our friend are much more excited in this adventurous affair as oppose to the nice girl that you bring home to see mom, this one is much-much more tempting.

It's the usual "abang adik angkat" that turns into "abang angkat adik".

The thing is Married men are stable, they know what women want and how to treat them well and Men are at their prime not when they are in their 20's but when they are in their late 30's and 40's. So of course given by that logic they are an excellent catch.

A female friend even said this as she observed this lady who is a mistress to this rich businessman.
"at first she does it for the money, then when she learn more and more about him, and as successful man they usually have great personality/virtue she starts to fall in love with him. Then slowly she turns into this women who will always long for the time and day that will never come where he will bring her to official functions and his kids will call her mother. Notice how things turn."

Baffling no?

I mean come on, even a beautiful actress with material possessions can fall for a married man with 5 kids. Ustaz or no Ustaz, Ana or Ente in the end he is just a man. Having a beard, pray five times a day and wearing a kopiah is no guarantee I tell you.

So Good Luck folks.

a pointer,

always........ always... quietly check his sms. You can never be sure.

Because

If he has something to hide, trust me it's not about work.

Good Night Folks.

Sinatra_Z - A metaphor and a conclusion

I saw a movie, or at least a clip of a movie.
Can't remember what it's called but this Englishman was talking to this American fellow and he was trying to persuade this man to do something. I'm not sure what but it seems that the American feels that it's something too late for him, that it was lost.

So the Englishman said..
"I lost my keys a few years back and ever since my door has been unlocked."

I like that sentence,
It's a metaphor on life. On how at first he lost his keys, a tool in which he controls on what and when comes in and goes out, now his door is always unlocked, hence letting in many things into his life which was previously blocked.

In a way losing something like the "key" actually made his life richer.

It made me wonder about the term 'the key to my heart' or 'how she/he holds the key to my heart'. You see sometimes we fall for someone really hard, or really deep that when things are over it's really hard to recover and that we feel a part of us is gone. How that person takes with them a part of our heart or mind and most of the times they just don't realise it.

So one could say now that person now is gone and with him/her are the keys to your heart. Corny no? But it is quite true. Trust me I really dislike thinking/discussing in this light but like it or not we as human beings with feelings just can't help it. So might as well write about it. That person who we thought was everything turn out to be not what hope to be, it happens right.

So when the key to our heart is lost hence the door is shut, thus one usually say it's really hard to fall once more or to open it up again. For some people it's just about eating several buckets of ice cream and crying, some become a workaholic while few (and I have seen this) though don't really admit it just don't trust the opposite sex anymore. Since the key is gone thus the door can't be open, takes someone special or really special to open it back (or a keymaker according to matrix).

You could look it that way,
or like the Englishman earlier on you can simply say that

"Ever since the key to my heart is lost, it has been unlocked ever since."

Think about it, you spent years obsessing about this person, devoting time, energy, money and many more to the fact that your heart is only opened to that one person because only he/she holds the key, that special one. But now since the key is gone, and the door is unlocked, anyone can come and visit be it a friend, someone interesting, a person with a funny accent or just whoever drops by. Now isn't that a nice thought.

Of course,
It is easier said than done. I mean come on you just got you heart broken and trying to get up feeling all preppy and optimistic is quite hard to do. But this is something that isn't supposed to make you feel better immediately instead it is something that you can think about as your conclusion. The time when you are done with all the drama and emotional things that this would be the conclusion of your whole fiasco. Another way of looking at everything, as oppose to the other ending.

It's just a simple logical deduction I made before I went out today while walking in front of the TV. It has got absolutely nothing to do with any recent events, trust me! So don't come and post on my wall about me with broken heart or all that jack shit.

But the conclusion is pretty neat no?

We all have our moments like that. Let's move on with a positive start then.

I feel a slight of regret though,

That,
If only I realised this years before, long ago.
Perhaps, things would have been very different today.

A friend once told me that I am very extrovert when it comes to thinking but not when it comes to, well, It rhymes with thinking.

Anyway,
let's just say, tonight I have just realised that I lost my keyes.

Good Night Folks.

Sinatra_Z - Menolak Satu Sekalipun maka Kafir

Saya ada terfikir lah,
dulu rasanya pernah dengar Pemimpin PAS ada mengatakan kalau menolak satu pun Hukum Islam maka jatuhlah ianya kafir.

Maka atas sebab BN menolak hukum Hudud PAS maka orang UMNO pun kafirlah mereka.

Hobi 1 - Borak-borak Ketuk Meja.

Menangkap gambar memang seronok namun kawan-kawan mungkin sakit hati sekiranya anda tak reti nak letak kamera dan membawa ia kemana-mana termasuk tandas. Selain dari menangkap gambar pemandangan saya juga suka mengambil gambar gadis desa, ah moi pekan, ibu muda, janda baik, wanita matang, perempuan berketerampilan dan sebagainya. OMG! Malangnya tidak ramai yang sudi menjadi sukarelawan.

Hobi 4 - Menulis cerita-cerita rakyat

Sekian.

Majulah Hobi Untuk Negara, Rakyat didahulukan pencapaian diutamakan.

P/S - Tahukan anda warna kegemaran saya ialah biru gelap.

Sinatra_Z - Spinning Rant

These days I read and hear people talk about media spinning and what not.
How they write passionately about the main stream media being the master spin doctor, the bias in it and how it serves their political masters. It seem to be the "IN" thing in the internet these days, a one tracked writing fad I guess.

But don't get me wrong,
I'm not saying that it's not true, the perception that one has about media spinning and serving certain quarters is true, in a sense. Just like how Fox news is biased towards the Republicans and MSNBC to the democrats, I mean we are all somewhat delusional if we think that MCA owned TheStar would be truly independent if a brilliant democracy loving activist is their editor. Oh come on, humans by nature are bias, that is how things just is.

Look I get it.

But I do have a slight problem,
I have a slight problem with some people who writes vehemently about spinning and bias yet gets his daily dose of "Indipendent/non spinning" news comes from Harakah, Malaysia Today, Malaysian Insider, Suara Keadilan and god knows what else.

Wow,
Harakah Daily, truly a non bias news medium eh. Very independent, much-much independent that New Straits Times no? Your train of logic is impressive......

Let's not forget....

The rabid Malaysia Today fan boys who rabidly comments on his every writings has the balls to actually complain about spinning from TheStar?

Or how about that columnist who blames everything to BN and how wonderful, perfect and great Selangor is under PR rule, yet the same time accuse some people of having delusions.

Look,
the truth is,
many of the angry folks out there who complain about spinning are not really pissed at the act of spinning.

They're just angry because the news,
are not spinning to their own liking.

That's the truth,
and guess what sparky... The truth hurts.

So please,
I have had enough of idiots who complain about spinning yet at the same time can be wanking upon reading RPK's latest posting.

At least have the balls to admit it!

You think I like reading some of the spinning crap in TMI? NO!
But hey, the owners paid for that bloody hosting and bills from their own pockets and they be pretty damn stupid if they cant dictate what news to be published.

Life is like that!

I'm okay with you being bias, I am!

But please don't try to pretend that you're not. It's just pathetic.

Sinatra_Z - Rendang Perantau

Jadi masa dekat kampung..
Abang saya buka lah komputer riba dia dan mula la tunjuk gambar-gambar raya tahun lepas dekat makcik-makcik.

Almaklumlah orang Perak,
memang meriah le jadinye yeop.

Tengah tengok-tengok gambar tu dia pun cakaplah,
"Haa tengok baju raya Zaidel tahun lepas, sama dengan sekarang." sambil menunjukan ke aras saya.
Barulah saya sedar, rupanya dah dekat 5 tahun tak tukar baju melayu.

"Naah pergi salam Uncle Zaidel..." Kata isteri Abang sedara aku kepada anak perempuanya.

OMG!
Ohooo... Ahaaa....

Tengoklah gambar-gambar raya dalam facebook,
gambar raya kawan-kawan baru kahwin, bawak isteri pulang ke kampung. Macam seronok je...

Jadi selama seminggu cuti raya ni apalah yang berlaku?

Tengok gambar pun dah tahu,
baru beli mainan baru,
macam masa kecik-kecik dulu,
sampai bawak masuk tidur sekali tu...

Tapi itulah dia,

Bahawasanya...

Kanak-kanak mula panggil saya pakcik,
Ambil gambar macam orang gila,
kawan-kawan datang rumah makan lemang memang gembira,
bukan senang nak masak rendang,
Orang Perak memang ceria..

dan yang paling penting sekali

Kenapa Ramadhan kali ni rasa sangat pendek sekali.
Rasa macam nak sambung sebulan lagi....

Jadi nak dijadikan cerita,

"Damn! Akhil Hayy.." Badang Menjawab

"Ye lah Akhil Hayy Ustaz bekas rockers , ko pun cekap bermain gitar kita lebih kurang halal lah."

"Aku..... Ustaz Akhil Baligh ada la."

"Ok lah tu, bolehlah ko masuk TV cakap Ana, Ente, Unta lepas tu bacalah patihah sikit, an nas sikit lepas tu tinggal bini kahwin dengan artis. Cara sial."

Itulah dia,

Dia ceramah bagus, kelakar, orang mau dengar la, bagus la tu. Tapi itulah dia walaupun asyi ber ANA ber ENTE tapi dalam jiwa tetap lelaki Melayu, pantang glamour sikit peh sangkut skandal dengan Artis Waheeda, baguslah dah kahwin tapi bercerai dengan bini anak ramai. Apa kejadahnya. Mula-mula Ana, kemudian Ente akhirnya Unta.

Memang la bukan berdua-duaan tapi isteri mana tak terbakar hati dia, bawaklah keluarga pergi berkelah, bini ko pun mesti suka nak berkelah dekat tepi pantai kan, bawaklah dia sekali...

Tapi kan,
aku duk kutuk-kutuk lelaki Melayu ni, yang aku lagi tak paham Perempuan melayu tu sendiri.

Dahlah Lawa, bergaya, berjaya dan berduit tapi dok sangkut kat laki orang. Jadi pak sanggup lah pulak. Masaalahnya bukan yang ni sorang je, bersepah anak dara kat luar sana macam tu.

Betul tak?

Apa Kejadahnya.... Aii entahlah. Aku mana lah tau, aku ni cuma seekor lipas je.

P/S
Dok kutuk-kutuk Ustaz ni ntah-ntah aku sok bila dah jadi macam dia pun 2 kali 5 gak. Almaklumlah lelaki, kan miang sikit, doa-doa tak jadilah macam tu.

Sinatra_Z - Being Angry

Some people choose to be angry all the time.
Angry with society, other people, government, political parties, certain group of people or just the universe.

They dedicate their whole day, week, month and year merely spewing out venom and just be angry.

Angst,
because angst is cool, it makes you artistic, being cynical is great, it's very French.

Smoking a cigarette with a liquor in a hand talking about religion and how it should suit your lifestyle.
Blame everyone.

The thing is,
I wouldn't want to do that. To be just a Critic and do nothing about it. It is easy to be just a critic, an avant-garde writer, a very opinionated columnist who only knows how to blame and not do anything about it. To simply write behind a computer screen and go to sleep feeling all cool and dandy.

No,
I don't want to be angry all the time.

Because,
Being angry all the time, can be quite tiring.

Sinatra_Z - A Ramadhan Love Story

SEPT 9 — Yes... even cockroaches like me have a love story. It’s not dramatic, it does not involve many people nor did anyone else get hurt. It’s not worth to be made into a drama, but nonetheless, it is just as sweet, beautiful and melancholic as any love story out there.

I rarely write about things like this.

Her name was Nurul and I was eleven.

Sinatra_Z - Telefon Awam (Random Notes on Nostalgic Events series)

Kalau sekarang bercinta kebanyakanya dah tak main surat-surat,
dah tak bagi dah kad raya,
apatah lagi kasi kaset himpunan rekod lagu-lagu kegemaran cinta 90 minit rakam dari radio.

Sekarang semua dah main text.
SMS, YM, MSN dan sebagainya.
Tapi sebab sekarang bil telefon pun dah murah jadi semua main pakai Handphone je.

Dah takde dah zaman-zaman orang kumpul duit syiling nak pergi mencari telefon awam.
Kita dah takde dengar dah ayat-ayat macam "Eh awak, kita dah nak habis syiling dah ni..."

Teringat dulu,

Kemudian keluarlah kad telefon magnetik satu kad 10 ringgit bolehlah gayut lama sikit.

aku baru pakai handphone Ericsson (masa tu belum sony) A330 bateri dah habis nak kenalah telefon kawan tanya minum mana. Maka aku pun pergilah dekat telefon awam macam biasalah ada makhluk tengah bergayut....

Aku pun tunggulah sambil dengar... Perbualan sebelah pihak sahaja...

"Awak buat apa tu?"

"ELeeh loyar buruk dia ye lah awak tengah cakap dengan kita..."

"Awak rindu tak dengan kita? Kita rindu tau..."

"dah makan ke?"

"Ohh dah makan ye makan apa?"

"Nasik? Iyelah nasik tapi lauknya apa?''

"Ohh sayur, sayur apa?"

"Takkan itu je kot? Takde lagi ke?"

"ooh Ikan.... Awak masak ke?"

"Haa mak awak masak apa ni.... Awak tak pandai masak ke?"

"Awak pandai masak ape?"

Jadi aku pun mulalah panas, ini baru cerita ikan ni. Kena pulak si minah tu makan ikan, ayam, telur dengan ulam-ulaman mau dekat sejam lagi ni. Belum masuk lagi bab ikan tu masak apa, kari ke? tiga rasa ke? tauchu ke? Karang sampai rempah ratus pun dia tanya.

Jadi aku yang nak cepat ni pun buatlah bunyi batuk kahak gatal...

"Ehmmm..."

"Ohh nak pakai eh? Kejap eh?" Dia pandang aku.

Sekarang orang dah tak hafal dah nombor telefon rumah.

Jadi semua kena telefon rumah....

"Hello..." Suara Garau Pakcik

"Errr..eeeerr ... Hello.."

"Iye nak cakap dengan siapa?"

"Boleh saya cakap dengan Zatie"

"Siapa ni?"

"Saya ni kawan sekolah dia, sama kelas."

"kenapa telefon malam-malam ni?"

"Ehh takde nak tanya pasal kerja sekolah?"

"Kerja sekolah? Kerja apa?"

"Takdelah yang cikkguu kasii ppppagi tadi.."

"Cikgu mana?"

Click... toot.. toot.... toot

Cuak siot. Sekali bapak dia daa....

Rindu sial zaman-zaman kumpul duit syiling bergayut dekat telefon awam tahan kena gigit nyamuk. Ada tu siap bawak kuaci.

Romantis orang-orang 90an, macam tu le... Nostalgia....

Dah lama dah aku tak pakai pondok telefon awam.

Ada lagi ke?
